  1. WHY ARE YOU INTERESTED IN RUNNING FOR OFFICE FOR THE CITY OF POCATELLO?
I was appointed to fill a vacancy on the council one year ago and want to continue working for government efficiency and economic improvement.  As an owner of a local business and investment properties, I understand the importance of budgets and financial accountability.  Diversity on the council is important, and I am able to offer a unique perspective.  As a mother with two school-aged children and the only female on the council, I represent a large group of our citizens.  I know how important it is to make decisions that are in the best interest of our children and future generations.

  2. IN YOUR OPINION, WHAT IS THE MAJOR ISSUE FACING POCATELLO?
The major issue facing Pocatello is change.  Change is not easy and many people feel uncomfortable or uncertain about it.  At the same time, there are many opportunities and benefits that come from change.  We cannot afford to miss out on great opportunities due to fear of change.  Change is inevitable, whether we like it or not.  The new freeway interchange, along with the accompanying opportunities and proposed developments hold the promise of economic prosperity and new employment opportunities for our citizens. I am looking forward to helping guide our city through the challenges resulting from new jobs, new development, and population growth.

    (a)  HOW WOULD YOU ADDRESS THE ISSUE YOU JUST DESCRIBED?
I have a positive attitude and am not afraid to consider new ideas or different ways of doing things.  I will work to make sure we are prepared for the future and encourage growth that will benefit our citizens.   It is important to be proactive to bring about the kind of changes that will be positive for our community, instead of accepting what comes by default.  We need to work with existing companies and the university to maintain an environment where there are economic opportunities and no barriers for business.  If we want jobs that pay good wages, shopping opportunities, and entertainment options, we need to attract that.  We should work with the organizations that attract new businesses to our region.  The city does not currently have an employee whose primary focus is economic development.  This is an essential role and I want to fill it as soon as possible.

  3. IF ELECTED, WHAT WILL YOUR FIRST PRIORITY BE?
In addition to focusing on the economy, I will work to present a positive image of our city and facilitate teamwork with other public officials.  Instead of getting caught up in rivalry, we need to work together.  I get along with other elected officials and encourage a spirit of cooperation and enthusiasm.  I also plan to continue attending and supporting community events.  It is important to support and encourage the people who are doing great things in our community.  Pocatello offers a wholesome environment and is a great place to live and raise a family.  I will do everything I can to see this continues.
