Four proclamations are set to be read at this week’s Pocatello City Council meeting.
During the April 7 meeting, the decrees will proclaim the month of April to be National Donate Life Month, Civitan Awareness Month, Fair Housing Month, and April 16 as Portneuf Valley Community Environmental Fair Day.
The first was requested by Intermountain Donor Services and seeks to “recognize the efforts and involvement of the Yes Idaho Coalition and our many donor families, and encourage all citizens of Pocatello to participate in this program by registering for the Idaho Donor Registry.”
April’s second proclamation was asked for by Bannock Civitans and encourages residents “to actively support and take pride in worthwhile efforts of this international service organization and in the work of Civitans in our community.”
The third was asked of the Mayor by the City’s Community Development Block Grant Advisory Committee and urges “citizens and businesses to increase their awareness of the Fair Housing Act, as amended, so that all citizens receive equal opportunities for housing in our community.”
Lastly, the fourth was asked for on behalf of the Portneuf Valley Environmental Fair Committee and encourages “residents, businesses, and institutions to support the Fair, as well as make a commitment to undertake programs and projects that enhance our community’s natural environment by reducing the city’s carbon footprint and help build a sustainable community.”
Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
