Two of Shakespeare’s classics will be performed in the open air next Thursday and Friday. July 28 and 29, the Pocatello Arts Council will host two performances from the Montana Shakespeare in the Parks 2016 Summer Tour on the Idaho State University Quad. Thursday will see the group perform “The Comedy of Errors” while Friday they tackle “Richard III.” The first is a comedy involving two sets of twins and a series of incidents involving mistaken identities. “Richard III” tells the tragic tale of his climb to power and reign over England. “If you’ve never had the chance to take in a performance of Shakespeare, there really isn’t a much better time,” said Frank Hartlieb, Chairman of the Pocatello Arts Council. “The plays are free and you’ll get to spend your night taking in a fantastic show and a beautiful Pocatello evening.” Both performances begin at 6:30 p.m. and are sponsored by the Pocatello Arts Council, Portneuf Medical Center, and the Idaho State University Cultural Events Committee. No seating is provided and attendees are asked to bring their own chairs or blankets to sit on. Seating is also on a first come, first served basis. In the event of inclement weather, the performances will be held at Frazier Hall. For more information on the Pocatello Arts Council, visit pocatelloarts.org.
