A pair of proclamations will be read at Thursday’s Pocatello City Council Meeting.
During the meeting, Mayor Brian Blad will join with the Bannock County Commissioners and Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England in a joint proclamation to proclaim September 19 through 25 as “Kind Community Week.” The edict urges “citizens to be more than bystanders when it comes to kindness” and “make the choice every day to be kind and integrate kindness into your daily lives.” The proclamation was requested by Courtney Fisher, President of Kind Community.
The second proclamation on the agenda establishes September 2016 as “National Recovery Month” and seeks to raise awareness of mental illness and addiction disorders. The decree also calls upon the people of Pocatello to observe the month “with appropriate programs, activities, and ceremonies supporting this year’s theme, ‘Join the Voices for Recovery: Our families, Our Stories, Our Recovery.’” The proclamation was requested by Kevin Wakeman with Recovery Fest.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
