Otvos Selected for Mayor for a Day Post

An essay is being credited for the selection of Emma Otvos as Pocatello’s newest Mayor for a Day.

A ninth-grader at Calvary Chapel Christian School, Otvos’ essay titled “A Spark to Light the Flame” encourages students to find out what they are passionate about and implores them to think about what they would like to do when they “grow up.” Mayor for a Day Otvos’ term will begin the morning of Wednesday, March 29 and conclude that afternoon. During her time in office, she will meet with leaders of various City departments, as well as receive an inside look at how the City operates on a day-to-day basis.

During the school year, a new Mayor for a Day is selected from the city’s middle and high schools once a month. The selection is made by the school and a different school is represented each month.
