PPD Looking to Catch Children in the Act of Doing Good

PolicePlayUnplugged

Officers with the Pocatello Police Department are looking to catch local children red-handed doing good things for the community.

As part of the department’s participation in the “Play Unplugged” program, officers will be handing out “Caught Ya” badges to kids doing positive, safe, or helpful things in Pocatello.

“While officers are on patrol, they’ll be looking to ‘catch’ children bettering their community,” said Officer Akilah Lacey. “These things can range from riding a bike with a helmet to picking up trash in a park. All we’re looking for is something that shows you’re being a good neighbor and a positive influence for other kids in the community.”

If there is a project that children have completed that officers did not get to see in person, bring a photo or video and the child to the Pocatello Police Department and officers will present the child with a badge.

“Remember we may be busy helping other people when you come in, so please be understanding if it takes a little time for an officer to get with you or if you have to come back,” Lacey said.

Officers’ participation in the program is sponsored by the Portneuf Valley Fraternal Order of Police Local Lodge #13.
