“Partners in Pride” Program Expands, Will Double Available Containers

SanitationGeneric2

Now twice as many people are able to take advantage of a free container from the City of Pocatello Sanitation Department.

Recently, the City Council authorized the department to provide 3 more of the 3-yard containers and 2 more 17-yard boxes for the “Partners in Pride” program. The effort allows Pocatellans to get a free container to help remove unwanted items on their property or take on projects which may require greater than usual trash service. The additional equipment will double the number of containers available to residents.

“Over the years, we’ve seen more and more residents take part in the program,” said Arlyn Rasmussen, Sanitation Department Superintendent. “You can clean up your yard, reorganize your garage, or complete any other project that requires more than your usual trash service.”

The program was last expanded in 1995. According to statistics compiled by the department, 380.58 tons of trash was hauled away through the program in Fiscal Year 2016.

The new 3-yard containers will be available starting today, July 31. The 17-yard variety will be available for residents at a later date. Containers are available on a first come, first served basis and can be reserved for a 48-hour period or over a weekend by calling 208-234-6192.
