Pocatello Water Takes Best of Show at AWWA Intermountain Section’s Annual Conference

WaterTasteTestAward2017

Pocatello can now be known for how great its drinking water tastes thanks to a water taste test competition.

Recently at the American Water Works Association’s (AWWA) Intermountain Section’s Annual Conference, the City of Pocatello Water Department took home the Best of Show title in the water taste test competition. Water systems were invited to submit a two-liter sample and were judged on a 10-point scale with 10 being the highest score possible. Winner’s were selected from three different categories; Best of the Best – Groundwater, Best of the Best – Surfacewater, and Best of Show.

“City employees take great pride in delivering safe, clean drinking water to the residents of Pocatello,” said Justin Armstrong, Water Department Superintendent. “I’m excited to say that we can now add best tasting to that list.”

By taking the Best of Show title, the City of Pocatello is eligible to compete on a national level at the AWWA’s Annual Conference and Exposition in Las Vegas that will be held in June 2018.

The AWWA Intermountain Section consists of water systems located within Southeast Idaho and the entire state of Utah.

Every year the Water Department conducts over 1,500 water quality tests for more than 100 different compounds and compiles the results into the Water Quality Report. To view the most recent report, visit pocatello.us/ArchiveCenter/ViewFile/Item/510.
