Wednesday, November 8, the Pocatello Fire Department will be using a live-fire exercise to help train firefighters.
For the burn and learn, the department will start actual fires in a controlled setting at the vacant home located at 4259 Hawthorne Road. Crews will begin setup at 8 a.m. with training scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Firefighters will remain in the area until approximately 5 p.m.
Motorists are urged to use caution while traveling in this area. There may be intermittent periods of heavy smoke that may cause low visibility. Alternate routes should be considered to avoid the training area.
Burn and learns are conducted in accordance with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and National Fire Protection Agency standards.
Residents with questions about the exercise are invited to contact the Pocatello Fire Department at 208-234-6201.
