Compost Keeps Happening: City of Pocatello Yard Waste Collection Program Accepting Residents

The City of Pocatello Sanitation Department is looking for more residents to join its yard waste collection effort.

Through the Compost Happens program, residents are given a brown-lid auto-cart to deposit grass clippings, leaves, and garden trimmings. After the waste is collected, it is transported to the Bannock County Landfill where it is turned into compost.

“We would like to thank the many Pocatellans who make use of greener options for waste disposal,” said Debbie Brady, Recycling Coordinator.

Compost Happens runs from April to the end of November and costs $5 per month or $40 per year.

In 2017, the yard waste collection program grew by 66.26 tons and in total, the department picked up 436.93 tons of yard waste.
