Zoo Idaho Zoological Society Unveils “100 from 500” Campaign

The Zoo Idaho Zoological Society (ZIZS) is hoping 500 people are willing to part with a single Benjamin.

Recently, the society kicked off its “100 from 500” campaign. The effort is asking 500 people to donate $100 to the society’s annual improvement fund. The gifts will help to fund education programs, improve facilities and exhibits, and increase guest amenities at Zoo Idaho as well as assist conservation projects throughout the Gem State.

“We’re so excited to start our annual campaign,” said Jennifer Erchul, President of the Zoo Idaho Zoological Society Board of Directors. “Zoo Idaho is working on multiple projects this year, and our goal, as the society, is to help cover the cost of many improvements and new exhibits included in the master plan. We’re thrilled with the enthusiasm our community has shown towards these improvements and are eager to provide support to our zoo.”

“Thank you to ZIZS and everyone for their support and help in furthering the missions of Zoo Idaho and the Zoo Idaho Zoological Society,” said Peter Pruett, Zoo Idaho Superintendent. “The annual campaign allows the society the opportunity to not only help with zoo improvements but also assist in funding events like OktoBEARfest, Roar And Pour, Mornings with Marshmallow and development of new events that benefit the animals of Zoo Idaho.”

Zoo Idaho is one of a handful of indigenous zoos in the United States. Zoo staff work directly with Idaho Fish and Game and the United States Fish and Wildlife Service by acquiring animals in need of rehabilitation and rescue. The majority of animals at Zoo Idaho would be unable to thrive in the wild.

The Zoo Idaho Zoological Society is a private, non-profit that works in conjunction with the City of Pocatello and Zoo Idaho. The Zoo Idaho Zoological Society’s mission is to promote community involvement and financial support to benefit the mission, long-range design, expansion and accreditation of Zoo Idaho.
