MAYOR BLAD SPENDS TIME WORKING WITH CITY DEPARTMENTS


Over the last few months Mayor Brian Blad has spent time working in different City departments throughout the city. In the August 2011 edition of the Mayor's Newsletter Mayor Blad describes his experiences and explains the reason behind his visits, as he puts it, "I want to understand the jobs our employees do."


To date the Mayor has visited the Marshall Public Library, the Video Services department which runs Government Access Channel 11 and Public Access Channel 12 and the Water and Sanitation departments and most recetly visited with Parks & Recreation and Street department paving crews.


In the future the Mayor plans to make visits to all City departments. In an effort to catalog the Mayor's travels we provide a photo log of selected departmental visits below.

 
JULY 27, 2011 - WATER DEPARTMENT
   
JULY 27, 2011 - Mayor Blad visits with Water department employees working on the Garfield Water Main Line Project. With shovel in hand the Mayor assists with the replacement of the obsolete water line. Work on the water main project is expected to be completed in October 2011.
 
   
SEPTEMBER 13, 2011 - STREET DEPARTMENT
   
SEPTEMBER 13, 2011 - Mayor Blad visits with a Street department crew working on a milling & paving project at the intersection of Bonneville & Hayes. The Mayor assists the crew with some Bobcat handiwork and then climbs up onto the 45ft cold planer milling machine to get a lesson in how to direct its boom conveyor belt carrying milled asphalt into a waiting dumptruck.
