PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT SERVICES MISSION
The Planning & Development Services Department, composed of the Planning Services Division and the Neighborhood & Community Services Division is charged with overseeing the orderly growth and development of Pocatello. Some of the principal functions of this department include:
- Collection of data and the presentation of reports or studies pertinent to a multitude of land use decisions.
- Preparation and administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan, and Zoning, Subdivision, and Sign Ordinances (see City Code Chapter 17)
- Staff support and coordination with the following organizations for the betterment of the community:
- Pocatello City Council
- Community Development Commission
- Hearing Examiner
- Historic Preservation Commission
- Site Plan Review Committee
- Zoning Ordinance Review Committee
- Pocatello Development Authority
- Bannock Planning Organization
- Old Town Pocatello
- Portneuf Greenway Foundation
- Pocatello Tree Committee
- Valley Pride
- Bannock Development Corporation
- Southeast Idaho Council of Governments
- Open Space Committee
- Enforcement of all codes related to land use and signage in Pocatello, through coordination with the Pocatello Police Department Code Enforcement Officers.
- Completion of special projects as assigned by the Mayor or City Council.
