Pocatello Regional Airport is the venue for two back-to-back events this June that will provide entertainment for the entire family. On June 25 th the Pocatello Portneuf Rotary Club will be hosting a Big Band Bash, a World War II era hangar dance. The next day, June 26 th , the airport will open its gates to the public as the General Aviation Committee presents Airport Appreciation Day – A Salute to General Aviation.
The Big Band Bash is the Portneuf Rotary Club's first fundraising event and they are putting everything together for an authentic hangar dance. The event will be held at the AvCenter, Inc. hangar at 1483 Flightline Road . Vintage warbird aircraft will be on display outside the large hangar doors and the 17-piece Jazz House Band will wow the audience with authentic period music. Guests are encouraged to wear period costumes to complete the scene and a photographer will be available with proper background to provide a keepsake photograph.
Proceeds from this event will be used by the Pocatello Portneuf Rotary Club to fund service projects both locally and worldwide that focus on youth, clean water and the eradication of polio. The club is part of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build goodwill and peace.
The price for the fundraiser event is $20 per person and includes dinner provided by the Texas Roadhouse, dancing and entertainment. There will be a no-host bar and a silent and live auction. Tickets are available from any Portneuf Rotary Club member or through the airport management office at 234-6154 or airportinfo@pocatello.us.
