ANIMAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT MISSION

The Animal Services Department coordinates all animal control activities within the boundaries of Pocatello and manages the animal shelter located in Upper Ross Park. The animal shelter is open to the public Monday through Saturday and provides educational tours and volunteer programs for all age groups. Public presentations by employees can be scheduled and written information on animal issues is available by contacting the shelter office.

NEW YEAR VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION
SATURDAY, JANUARY 10, 2015 AT 12:00 NOON

Would you give 1 hour of your life to save another? For those that have an interest in animals, this may be for you. To learn more about what our volunteers do, the Pocatello Animal Shelter will have a Volunteer Orientation on January 10, 2015 at Noon – We’re located near Upper Ross Park at 3100 Avenue of the Chiefs.

TAKE YOUR WALK FOR A DOG

Support your local animal organization simply by walking your dog! Use the app each time you grab for the leash. It’s healthy for you, your dog, and your favorite shelter or rescue.

Go to www.wooftrax.com.

Click "Get the App" at the top of the page, install the free Android or iPhone app, and start taking your Walk for a Dog every day. You can change the shelter or rescue you are walking for in the setup tab of the app for iPhone users, or in the settings menu for Android users. The more people walking for a shelter or rescue, the more we can donate.

A BOND'S BEST FRIEND

Dogs like Beans (above) need great homes. If you are considering a pet, consider adopting from the Pocatello Animal Shelter. For a list of pets up for adoption click here.
Do you want to give a helping hand to the animals? But you are under 18 years old or don't have time to volunteer in person at the shelter? Click here for a list of projects that can be done from home, by families, as service projects and by those not old enough to volunteer at the shelter.
The Pocatello Cell Dog Program is a collaborative effort to allow inmates a chance to give back to the community by helping with the training of companion animals. Click here to learn more.
