Overgrown weeds becoming a fire hazard?

City ordinances require that weed growth in non-lawn areas must be kept at less than twelve inches (12”) in height. Noxious weeds, as defined by the State must be completely eradicated. Click here to report a code violation to the Pocatello Police Department.

Fire Prevention Activities

The Pocatello Fire Department is actively involved in fire prevention and public education activities. The department holds an annual open house to educate citizens about fire safety. We visit with schools every year during Fire Prevention Week. We are available to help businesses with fire safety and fire extinguisher classes and information.

What is the ISO Public Protection Class rating for Pocatello?

Pocatello's ISO PPC Rating is 3. How is that rating figured? ISO collects information on municipal fire-protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. In each of those communities, ISO analyzes the relevant data and assigns a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10. Class 1 represents exemplary public protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire-suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria.
