The City of Pocatello
is a Safe Place.
Where kids get help fast. Sponsored by the Bannock County Youth Foundation.

Every year city departments are required to present a performance report to the Mayor, City Council and citizen stakeholders (Service Level Report). Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the departments discuss their mission, financial inputs, workload outputs, measures of efficiency & effectiveness (including comparisons to other cities & industry norms), results and their issues and concerns for the future.

BACKGROUND ON THE NEW POCATELLO/CHUBBUCK D.A.R.E CAR

In 2009 the Pocatello Police Department took on a project to create a bold new D.A.R.E. vehicle.  The old D.A.R.E. car had several mechanical problems and the decision was made to replace the vehicle.  Funding for the vehicle came from local business and the Bannock County D.A.R.E. Board.  No tax payer funds were used in the making of the car.  The car was also made as a living tribute to long time D.A.R.E. Officer Dan Gilbert who recently passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease.    One of Officer Gilbert's friends Dean Molder, first approached D.A.R.E. Officer Kevin Nielsen about getting a new car, and used his contacts to help make the car what it is today.   The car features a custom airbrush flames.  Inside the flames are 8 hidden “ghost” messages that say “just say no”, “D.A.R.E.” and “not even once.” The car also features a trunk mount for an LED TV.  Officers can use this features to play videos or PowerPoint lessons from the back of the car.  Essentially the car becomes a teaching tool as well as a show car.

The car was unveiled at the 2010 ISU Chrome in the Dome Car show, and then put to work in the Pocatello and Chubbuck Elementary Schools.

In September of 2010 the new D.A.R.E car won a national award (see: The Idaho State Journal Article) from Law and Order Magazine, taking first place in the nation for best D.A.R.E. graphics.
