| SANITATION DEPARTMENT MISSION |
| |
The Pocatello Sanitation department is responsible for solid waste collection and disposal, as well as issuing regulations for services provided. The daily collection for residential and commercial customers in Pocatello is approximately 143 tons which is disposed of at the Bannock County Landfill located south of Pocatello. The Sanitation department provides each home with a 96-gallon refuse cart for weekly pickup service, and provides other recycling and roll off services for residential and commercial customers.
The Sanitation department and maintenance facility is located at 1121 South Second Avenue. To contact the department by telephone call (208) 234-6192. Office hours Monday through Friday (as of June 1, 2011) are from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and from 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.

| COMPOST HAPPENS PILOT PROGRAM |

The City of Pocatello Sanitation Department in partnership with The Bannock County Landfill and the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality will be running the COMPOST HAPPENS yard waste only composting pilot program from April 1, 2013 to November 30, 2013. The purpose of the program is to evaluate the demand and cost effectiveness to provide residents of Pocatello a permanent pick-up composting service.
