Planning staff is charged with overseeing the orderly growth and development of Pocatello. Some of their principal functions include:

• Collection of data and the presentation of reports or studies pertinent to a multitude of land use activities.
• Preparation and administration of the City's Comprehensive Plan and related Land Use Ordinances (e.g., the Zoning, Sign, and Subdivision Ordinances).
• Support and coordination with the following organizations for the betterment of the community:

  • Site Plan Review Committee (SPRC)
  • Southeast Idaho Council of Governments (SICOG)
• Enforcement of all codes related to land use and signage in Pocatello.
• Special projects as assigned by the Mayor or City Council.
