Local students will be getting an up-close view of municipal government with the City of Pocatello.

Tuesday, April 23, 24 members of the Pocatello/Chubbuck Mayors’ Youth Advisory Council will spend the day with City leaders and see how the individual departments operate on a day-to-day basis. Past Youth in Government Day participants have prepared meals for the animals at Zoo Idaho, assisted with airfield inspections at Pocatello Regional Airport, made street signs with the Street Operations Department, and more.

“The City is pleased to host Youth in Government Day again,” said Mayor Brian Blad. “We believe it is important to educate our youth about how City government works and let them have hands-on experience. It will help them be more educated constituents and give them an opportunity to learn about possible careers.”

The departments selected were picked by members of the Youth Advisory Council.
