Babysitting Clinic Offered by the Marshall Public Library June 8

One of the Marshall Public Library’s most popular programs returns June 8.

That Saturday, from 8 a.m. to noon, the staff at the library will hold their annual free babysitting clinic for 11 to 14-year-olds. The class will introduce attendees to the basics of babysitting. Guest speakers will cover personal and kid safety, an introduction to CPR and first aid for babysitting emergencies, proper foods for children, understanding the ages and stages of child development, and more.

“Babysitting is often one of the first jobs youth will have, but it is also a great responsibility,” said Kath Ann Hendricks, Young Adult Librarian. “Sitters are in high-demand during the summer and we want to provide these youth with the tools they need to keep them and the children they care for happy and safe.”

Due to the demand for the class, there’s no limit to the number of participants who can join in the seminar. However, registration is required and attendees are requested to attend the entire 4-hour clinic. To register, visit bit.ly/2LQfesq or call 208-232-1263 ext. 109. Registration closes Wednesday, June 5.

Participants who complete the clinic will receive a certificate of completion and a Babysitter’s Handbag that includes a babysitting handbook, children’s book, toys, and more.
