It will be raining while the sun is shining later this summer if the Pocatello Fire and Police Departments get their wish.
Recently, the two departments announced dates for their “Cool Rain in the Park” series. The first will be held Thursday, June 27 at noon at Alameda Park. During the events, firefighters station an engine in the park and turn the hoses on, giving park-goers a chance to cool off in the simulated rain. Firefighters and officers will also be on hand to talk to children about bullying, smoke alarms, and home escape planning.
“It is a great way to cool off, interact with some of your local firefighters and police officers, and learn some valuable information,” said Kim Stouse, Community Relations/Education Specialist with the Pocatello Fire Department.
Cool Rain events are also planned for July 18 at Raymond Park and August 15 at Caldwell Park. All events begin at noon, will last approximately a half-hour, and are weather/emergency call permitting.
