City of Pocatello Starts Electronic Plan Review with ProjectDox

Construction project

If a bit of construction is in your future, the City of Pocatello has a new tool to make things a little easier.

Recently, the City’s Building Department began utilizing ProjectDox. Through ProjectDox, contractors, developers and residents can upload building plans electronically, saving them a trip to City Hall. The platform also allows builders and City officials to communicate back and forth on any changes or updates to plans that are needed.

“The new process is more efficient and streamlined,” said Richard Bigelow, Building Official for the City of Pocatello. “With electronic plan review, we should be able to shorten the time it takes for plans to be reviewed and approved by the City.”

ProjectDox will also allow building inspectors out in the field to make notes to plans. An additional benefit of electronic plan review is that it helps cut down on the number of physical copies of plans that need to be stored.

“For example, on a commercial build processed with the old paper-based system, we would need three sets of plans from a builder. One would be for the Building Department, the second would go to the Water Pollution Control Department, and the third copy would be for the builder,” Bigelow said. “Each City department would complete their review on a separate copy. Now, all reviews are completed on one centralized plan.”

To create a ProjectDox account, contact the Building Department at 208-234-6158.
