The first bells of the school year will be sounding soon and the Marshall Public Library is stepping up to help local students in need.

Starting Saturday, August 19, staff will be collecting items for the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District #25 supply pantry. Staff will be accepting general toiletry items like shampoo, soap, lotion, deodorant, towels, washcloths, and combs for students in need. 2017 marks the second year in a row that the library has served as a collection point.

“We’d like to thank the community for their support last year,” said Amy Campbell, Public Services Supervisor. “Several community members brought in boxes full of things they'd bought, and some community organizations even collected among their members and brought those items in. We don't know exactly how much we were able to collect, but it took three trips to move it over to the district offices.”

The collection point will be open until Saturday, September 23.  New and unopened goods will be accepted at the first floor checkout desk at the library, 113 South Garfield Avenue. Items past their expiration date will not be accepted.
