Thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities® and donations by The Whittier Trust and the Myers family, a surgery suite will be created at the Pocatello Animal Shelter.Earlier this year, the shelter was awarded a $50,000 grant by PetSmart Charities®. Shortly after that, the Whittier Trust stepped forward to donate $20,000 and then the Myers family donated another $20,000 to also fund the purchase of surgical equipment. Once the equipment is installed, the suite will allow spay and neuter surgeries and other operations to be performed on-site for shelter animals.“We would like to thank PetSmart Charities®, The Whittier Trust, and the Myers family for their generosity and commitment to improving the lives of the animals in our community,” said Danielle Garcia, Animal Services Director. “The suite will make things much less stressful on the animals at the shelter and we will also save staff time by not having to shuttle animals to and from clinics elsewhere in the area.”The suite will feature two surgery tables, an exam table, a dental table and a fully equipped preparation and recovery room.Installation of equipment on the surgery suite is scheduled to begin in April. For more information on Pocatello Animal Services, visit pocatello.us/animal.
