Fourth Daily Flight Lifts Passenger Numbers at Pocatello Regional Airport

The addition of a fourth daily flight at Pocatello Regional Airport is sending passenger numbers skyward.

Passenger traffic totaled 21,329 for the first three months of 2018 according to figures compiled by airport staff. The news comes after a record-breaking year in 2017 and it looks like 2018 is headed in the same direction for the airport. Compared to 2017, year-to-date passenger numbers are up 22 percent.

“The fourth flight opens up more options for travelers,” said David Allen, Pocatello Regional Airport Manager. “There are more seats – and more discounted seats – per day and reduced layover times in Salt Lake City.”

The additional flight from SkyWest Airlines, operating as the Delta Connection to Salt Lake City, debuted March 2 and connects passengers to more than 30 domestic cities on the 5 p.m. bank of departures from Salt Lake City.

“We continue to look for opportunities to expand to other destinations and how those flights can fit with our current service,” said Allen. “We think the demand is there.”

Travelers to and from Pocatello are offered a series of free perks including the most popular, free parking. Other amenities offered at no charge include Wi-Fi, a book sharing center courtesy of the Friends of the Marshall Public Library, a self-serve shoe-shine station by Meyers Shoe Repair, a purified water refill station from Culligan Water Conditioning of Pocatello, complimentary coffee, and a children’s play area provided by Pocatello Regional Airport.

“We know we’re not going to be the right fit for every traveler every time, but we’re always worth a look,” Allen said. “Our fares are competitive and often times beat Idaho Falls and can even beat Salt Lake City fares when you add in the costs of driving in terms of money and time.”
