Zoo Buddies Reading Literacy Program Begins June 11 at Zoo Idaho

ZooZooBuddies2018

Tales from the animal kingdom are on the schedule at Zoo Idaho.

Starting June 11 at 11 a.m., Zoo Idaho will kickoff its Zoo Buddies reading literacy program for infants and children up to five-years-old. During the program, storytellers from the Marshall Public Library and Portneuf District Library will read animal related tales to children. Following the reading time, children may also enjoy an Animal Ambassador presentation or a craft.

“Zoo Idaho is partnering with the libraries to introduce children to the wild world of animals,” said Rachael Shearouse. “Our goal is to engage them at a young age to become stewards of our environment and local species.”

Zoo Buddies will be held at the Education Building in the Wildlife Theater and the cost of the program is included with the child’s zoo admission. General admission to the zoo is free for ages 0 to 2, $3.75 for ages 3 to 11, $5.75 for ages 12 to 59, and $4.50 for ages 60 and up. Parents and guardians are required to pay admission as well.

More information and a schedule for the Zoo Buddies Program can be found at zooidaho.org/edzoocation/zoo-buddies.
