Zoo Idaho is saying thanks to those who served Saturday, September 1.The zoo is hosting the “Tenth Annual Military Family Appreciation Day” and offering free admission to all those who are currently serving or have served in the United States Armed Forces and their families. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the honored guests can receive free admission to the zoo, lunch, and enjoy family-friendly activities.“On behalf of Zoo Idaho, I would like to express our thanks to those who have sacrificed for our nation,” said Peter Pruett, Zoo Idaho Superintendent. “Because of their service, we are all able to enjoy the freedoms we do today.”“It has been great to work with Zoo Idaho as well as other community partners to bring this event to our community for the 10th year and I hope that our military families will come out and enjoy themselves,” said Hiedi Young, Family Assistant Center Coordinator with Idaho Joint Military Family Programs.Current and former members of the military will need to show proof of service, such as a military identification card, to receive free admission.The event is sponsored by Idaho Joint Military Family Programs and Zoo Idaho as well as partner organizations American Legion, Farm Bureau, POW*MIA Awareness Association, and KZBQ and its sister stations.For more information on Zoo Idaho, visit zooidaho.org.Zoo Idaho is accessible to persons with disabilities.
