Public Invited to View Center Street Underpass Improvements

Residents are invited to get an up-close view of the improvements to the Center Street Underpass.

Friday, September 7 at 2 p.m. at the west side of the underpass, City officials along with the Pocatello Chiefs and members of the public will hold a ribbon cutting celebrating the reopening of the structure. Over the last month, crews repaired the façade on the east and west sides of the underpass, reconstructed the medians, upgraded the vehicle tunnel lights to light-emitting diodes, and recoated the pedestrian railings.

“Thank you to the public for their understanding while the underpass has been closed,” said Tom Kirkman, Deputy Public Works Director. “Thanks as well to the City employees and contractors who worked so hard on the project and made sure we hit our target date.”

The underpass will be open to vehicle and foot traffic at 3:30 p.m.
