Saturday, Nov. 24 to be Proclaimed “Small Business Saturday” in Pocatello

Old Town Pocatello

Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad will be issuing a proclamation that encourages citizens to support the area’s local, small businesses.

At Thursday’s Pocatello City Council meeting, Councilwoman Linda Leeuwrik will read the edict establishing November 24 as Small Business Saturday in Pocatello. The proclamation was requested by the Pocatello-Chubbuck Chamber of Commerce and Old Town Pocatello and urges Pocatellans to “support small businesses and merchants on Small Business Saturday and throughout the year.”

According to the United States Small Business Administration’s 2018 Small Business Profile, 99.2 percent of Idaho firms are considered small businesses and employ more than 300,000 people.

Thursday’s meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
