Pocatello Fire Dept. Seeks Applicants for Firefighter Positions

The City of Pocatello is currently accepting applications for Probationary Firefighters.

If you’re the type who likes to serve others, now is your chance to join the Pocatello Fire Department.  

The City of Pocatello is currently accepting applications for Probationary Firefighters. Interested individuals are asked to complete the application at Applicants are required to take the civil service exam. Testing will be held January 3 at the Idaho State University Education Building, 1555 East Terry Street, Room 243.  To be considered, applicants must be 18-years-old, possess a valid Idaho Driver’s License, score over 70 percent on the Fire Civil Service Exam, successfully complete the Combat Challenge, and pass the National Fire Protection Association 1583 Medical Screening. 

“A firefighter’s primary purpose is to help people, and the profession is incredibly rewarding,” said Chief David Gates. "If you like working in a team-orientated culture that challenges you every day, this is the job for you.”

Applications will be accepted until December 10. 

Starting pay for a probationary firefighter is $40,278 per year.
