Hitting a few baskets can help in the fight against hunger this holiday season.
Saturday, December 22 from 2-4 p.m. at Dick’s Sporting Goods, the City of Pocatello Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Holiday Hoopla free throw shooting competition to benefit The Idaho Foodbank. The timed contest is $3 per turn and participants are invited to make as many free throws as possible in one minute.
“You can step up to the line as many times as you like,” said Brian Lowman, Team Sports Supervisor. “If you’re not satisfied with your first try, another $3 will get you a chance to improve your score.”
Competitors will be grouped in boys’ and girls’ categories with three divisions: 8 to 9-years-old, 10 to 11-years-old, and 12 to 13-years-old. A 14-years-old and up division will be open to both male and female competitors. The winner in each division will receive a $50 Dick’s Sporting Goods gift card. In the case of a tie, the shooter with the best free throw percentage will be deemed the winner. Winners will be contacted via e-mail.
Registration forms will be available at Dick’s Sporting Goods, 1844 Hurley Drive, the day of the event.
