Mayor Blad presents Christian Colonel from the Hitting Hearts Foundation with a $1,000 check to purc

Pocatello Mayor Brian Blad has been putting one foot in front of the other for a good cause.

Friday, Mayor Blad donated the $1,000 he earned through the Blue Cross Foundation of Idaho’s Mayor’s School Walking Challenge to the Hitting Hearts Foundation. The money will go towards the purchase of adaptive physical education equipment for Pocatello High School students with special needs.

“I’m beyond excited for the special needs kids at Pocatello High School to be included in this Physical Education gift,” said Christian Colonel with the Hitting Hearts Foundation. “This equipment is a great reward for them for all of their perseverance throughout their lives. They deserve it, and much, much more!”

“As everyone knows, I’m always on the go, so I was more than happy to put my steps to good use competing in the Mayor’s School Walking Challenge,” said Mayor Blad. “Part of the challenge is to help local students be healthier and this equipment will do just that.”

In order to be eligible for the $1,000 challenge money, the Mayor had to walk at least 10,000 steps per day for the entire month of October 2017.
