Zoo Idaho will be wrapping up 2019 with its coolest event of the year.
Zoo Idaho will host the sixth annual “Wild Winter Weekends” Saturday, December 7 and Saturday, December 14 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. At the event, Zoo Idaho animals’ exhibits will be decorated with Christmas lights for attendees to enjoy while they walk around the zoo sipping hot chocolate and eating cookies. Both days will also feature snow science projects for zoo-goers including, snow volcanoes, crystal making, and an animal tracks activity. The zoo’s resident animals will also be treated to winter-themed enrichment activities from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
“Wild Winter Weekends are a great way to get into the holiday spirit while observing our native wildlife in their winter habitats,” said Rachael Shearouse, Education Curator at Zoo Idaho. “It’s a great time to check out our Rocky Mountain Bull Elk; they have the largest antlers of all the elk sub-species and keep those antlers throughout the winter. You can also join us to investigate other winter behaviors by participating in our educational activities offered from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wild Winter Weekends have something fun for the whole family.”
Admission to Wild Winter Weekends is free for ages 0 to 2, $4 for ages 3 to 11, $6 for ages 12 to 59, and $4.50 for ages 60 and up. Zoo Idaho Zoological Society members can get in for free.
