  1. Tween & Teen Summer Program Begins

    July 6, 2020, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM @ Community Recreation Center

It can be hard to figure out what to do with kids during the summer that are too old for daycare and too young to be left unsupervised every day. We take kids from 8AM - 5PM and go out in the community to do a different outdoor activity each day. Activities include rock climbing, swimming, biking, hiking, tubing, museums, canoeing, disc golf and more. The Teen program features an overnight raft trip. The Tween program has a raft trip done in a single day. This is a great chance to unplug from devices for a day or two. Tweens can sign up for Mondays, Wednesdays or both and Teens can sign up for Tuesdays, Thursdays or both.

  2. Session 2: Youth Rock Climbing Lessons Begin

July 9, 2020, All Day @ Ross Park

Kids come and hang out at Ross Park with instructors who know how to make the day fun and keep little hands busy on the rocks. Our system maximizes time on the rocks and minimizes time spent in lines. Teens learn to belay one on one and begin to build anchors. Once you are comfortable with Ross Park, check out the City of Rocks trips. Feel free to sign up for multiple sessions. Classes are limited to 25 kids.

  5. Intermediate Adult Rock Climbing Begins

    July 13, 2020, 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM @ Ross Park

Trial and error is no way to learn to climb. This course is designed for adults who want to be able to set up their own climbs, tie the proper knots and belay with confidence. Equipment is provided but you are welcome to bring your own and learn to use it. Many adults with kids in our youth programs take this course so they can take their family out safely after our programs end. Student to instructor ratios are low for maximum take home. Intermediate climbing takes basic techniques and begins to apply them to more varied situations.

  8. Beginning Backpacking

    July 31, 2020 - August 2, 2020

Beginning backpacking is designed to get people who have never been into the backcountry out for a 2-night wilderness experience. The group meets to discuss equipment and expectations well in advance to give everyone time to boost their fitness and go shopping. The exact route is not determined until the group gets together but expect reasonable mileage, a lake, and 4 hours of van time on each end. The cost covers transportation, permits and parking, wag bags, and group gear like water treatment. It does not cover food, camping equipment, and Sherpas. More experienced participants are welcome, but you aren’t going to get the trip tailored to you. Pre-trip meeting: July 22 at 6:00 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center
