Kids come and hang out at Ross Park with instructors who know how to make the day fun and keep little hands busy on the rocks. Our system maximizes time on the rocks and minimizes time spent in lines. Teens learn to belay one on one and begin to build anchors. Once you are comfortable with Ross Park, check out the City of Rocks trips. Feel free to sign up for multiple sessions. Classes are limited to 25 kids.

Join us for 12 sessions of stand up paddle boarding on the Bannock Reservoir at the Wellness Complex. Boards and paddles will be provided. We will offer open paddle boarding time (do as you wish) from 8-9am and an organized fitness session which may include yoga, intervals, strength or other group activities from 9-10am. Participation is sold in 1 hour increments as daily drop-in fee or by punch card. When equipment runs low punch card holders will have priority. Punch cards will be sold on-site or may be pre-purchased at the Community Recreation Center, 144 Wilson Ave. through June 7th. Pre-purchase quantities are limited.

The 2020 Portneuf Valley Fun Run/Walk Challenge Series features 5 unique events. Participants are invited to run or walk one, several, or all of the races. Advanced registration is highly recommended. Anyone 10 years and younger can run with the mayor for free in the Mayor's Division. Chaperones are also welcome to participate for free. No registration is required. Just show up and run. Free runners/walkers will not be chip timed or receive a shirt.

Climb the highest peak in Idaho. The ‘climb’ is mostly a long hike with one small section of non-technical scrambling. (ages 12+ w/ adult, 16+ without adult)

For anyone with backpacking experience or a high level of fitness or a high tolerance for learning the hard way, we are offering a 5-day extended backpacking trip. This trip will help participants learn the finer points of planning an extended self-supported wilderness trip. Participants will help plan the exact route, plan food, and make many of the trip decisions. Fees include transportation, permit fees, sanitation supplies, food containers, basic first aid, and a facilitator. Fees do not include personal equipment or food. There are multiple pre-trip meetings so the group can make solid plans and be more involved in the decision making process. Participants need to be able to carry 35-45 pounds for 10 miles a day over rugged terrain.
Pre-trip meetings: July 16 and August 6 at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Recreation Center.

COVID-19 Instructions: To comply with state guidelines, Day Classes will be split into morning and afternoon sessions with a maximum size of eight students and two instructors. All will be expected to practice appropriate social distancing. Instructors will wear face masks, and students are requested to bring their own masks.
